About Us

Rochdale heartbeat was formed in 1988 and became a registered charity in 1990. Now in our 30th year we have raised well in excess of £350.000 through our fund raising events.

We have helped to fund training for local cardiac nurses and since 2013 we have purchased and donated 42 defibrillators to local schools, sports venues and churches.

We offer heart patients the opportunity to continue their recovery programme after the NHS rehabilitation has ended, providing ongoing support, friendship and a chance to keep active.

Meeting every fortnight (Tuesday evening) for gentle exercise and a cup of tea starting at 6-30pm until 8-30pm at The Physiotherapy Dept. Rochdale Infirmary, Whitehall Street. Rochdale.

Heartbeat members know only too well that it is not just the patient who needs ongoing support but their families as well. Carers are just as worried and anxious as the patient, sometimes more so.

It is often hard to understand the fears that can build up. However, feelings like that are quite normal and talking to others who have been there can be a great help and put things in perspective. Heartbeat fulfills this need.
